You’ll receive an email confirmation with your appointment details, directions or Google Meet link, and payment information. This ensures you know exactly what to expect before your first session.
Your first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what brings you to counselling. We’ll talk about your goals, background, and what you’d like to work on.
You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
This time also helps you decide if my approach feels like a good fit for you.
Everything you share during counselling is treated with the utmost confidentiality. Creating a safe, private space is essential to the counselling process.
However, there are some situations where I am legally or ethically required to share information. These include:
If I believe there is a risk of serious harm to you or someone else
If records are subpoenaed by a court
If you provide written consent for information to be shared
If I become aware of suspected abuse, neglect, or harm to a child or vulnerable person - as a mandatory reporter, I am legally required to report such concerns to the appropriate authorities
Whenever possible, I will always aim to discuss the situation with you first, explain my concerns, and outline the steps that need to be taken before making any report.
Please note that documentation must be kept for 7 years from the date of completion for adult patients, and until the patient is 25 years old for patients under 18.
