Child Counselling: Minecraft Based Sessions
One-to-One, Minecraft-Based Sessions
Minecraft-based, child-centred counselling that supports emotional regulation, connection, and self-understanding — through play.
I provide child counselling using Minecraft as the primary therapeutic environment. Minecraft offers a familiar, engaging, and low-pressure space where children can connect, express themselves, and build skills in a way that feels safe and meaningful to them.
For many children, especially those who find direct conversation difficult, Minecraft provides a shared world where communication can happen naturally through play, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration.
How Minecraft Is Used in Sessions
Minecraft is used as a therapeutic medium, not a reward or behaviour management tool. The game environment supports counselling by allowing children to:
express emotions indirectly through play and building
explore problem-solving and decision-making
practise emotional regulation and flexibility
experience connection without pressure to talk
build confidence and self-awareness at their own pace
learn about online safety
Sessions are child-led and responsive. The focus is on relationship, emotional safety, and engagement, rather than game performance or achievement.
My Approach
My work is grounded in humanistic, child-centred counselling principles, delivered through a Minecraft-based format. This means:
the child’s experience and perspective are respected
sessions move at the child’s pace
autonomy and choice are prioritised
strengths and interests are used as entry points for growth
Minecraft allows counselling conversations to emerge naturally while building trust, emotional awareness, and coping skills in real time.
What Sessions May Look Like
Each session is different, depending on the child’s needs on the day. Sessions may involve:
collaborative building or creative projects
exploration of in-game challenges and choices
shared problem-solving and planning
observing how the child responds to success, frustration, or change
gentle reflection woven into gameplay
Children are not required to talk about feelings directly. Emotional themes are explored through the shared Minecraft experience.
The Role of Minecraft in Counselling
Minecraft is used as a supportive, relational tool within counselling sessions to foster connection, engagement, and emotional safety. For some children, particularly those who find direct conversation challenging, shared play within a familiar digital environment allows communication to develop more naturally.
Minecraft is not the therapy itself, but a medium that supports therapeutic outcomes. It provides a structured and predictable space where emotional regulation, problem-solving, and self-expression can be gently explored through shared activity.
Who This May Be Helpful For
Minecraft-based counselling may support children who:
struggle with traditional talk-based counselling
feel more comfortable communicating through play
experience anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or withdrawal
are neurodivergent or highly sensitive
benefit from structured yet flexible support
How Sessions Work
We meet online through Zoom or Teams and use Minecraft as a shared space for therapeutic activities and reflection. Each session is person-centred, neuro-affirming, and shaped around your child’s goals. In-person sessions may be available.

Personal Counselling
Finding Calm, Clarity, and Confidence
Life can be challenging. Stress, burnout, parenting, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and everyday pressures can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what to do next.
Counselling provides a supportive space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of what is happening in your life.
A Space to Explore What Matters
My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming. I draw on evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailoring sessions to your individual needs and goals.
I also draw on principles from Positive Behaviour Support. This means we explore behaviours with curiosity rather than judgement. Sometimes the things we do, think, or feel are telling us something important about our needs, stress levels, relationships, or environment. Together, we can identify patterns, understand what may be keeping you stuck, and explore practical changes that support wellbeing and meaningful progress.
Working Together
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. We work collaboratively and at your pace, focusing on what is most important to you. Whether you are looking for practical strategies, greater self-understanding, or support through a difficult time, our sessions are guided by your goals.
Location and Availability
Sessions are available online, offering the comfort and convenience of your own space. In-person sessions may also be available in Perth, North of the River.
Please get in touch to discuss your needs and whether counselling is the right fit for you.
